Mindful Mondays: Pleasure to See You!

Many of us spend day in and day out in the same spaces. You may have one space for work, and one for relaxation. Or the two may bleed together if you work from home.

Our surroundings can affect our moods! From paint color, to lighting, to texture, the items we surround ourselves with can make or break our experience each day.

So take a look around your space with fresh eyes. If you’re aiming for mindfulness, don’t change anything in the moment... just notice. You can always change things later as an act of self-care.

Start with 5 things that DON’T bring you pleasure when you look at them. Maybe it’s a reminder of a task you haven’t completed, or lighting or a paint color you don’t care for. Notice how each of those things feels in your body and your emotions. Shake it off and reset.

Now notice 5 things that DO bring you pleasure. Maybe it’s a photo of a loved one, or a soft blanket, or the music that’s playing. Really sit with each of those things, and notice how those feel in your body and your emotions. What does this tell you about what things you’d like to to see more of in your space?

This next weekend is the full moon, and it’s a great time to celebrate what’s good in our lives!

From weather changes, to new accomplishments, to finding a reason to smile... we each have at least one thing we can celebrate.

Taking time to celebrate allows you to slow down from the hustle that life can be. It also brings into focus what you want to see more of. So when you feel yourself getting caught up in busyness and negativity... stop to count your blessings.

Drop one of your reasons to celebrate below so we can join in the party! 🥳

Want to learn more about how you can use the phases of the moon to feel more connected in life? Join our Lunae class (in person or on Zoom) on Mondays at 7:00pm CST.

Mindful Mondays: Good Scents

Scents have a direct channel to the memory part of our brains. Have you ever caught a whiff of a certain food cooking, and been brought back to a happy moment from childhood? They also have a powerful effect on our emotions. So let’s travel down memory lane with a few happy scents.

Can you recall a scent that makes you feel warm and cozy?

Can you recall a scent that feels like summer?

Can you recall a scent that makes you feel like a teenager again?

Can you recall a scent that feels like your favorite holiday?

Can you recall a scent that makes you feel energized and alert?

Can you recall a scent that makes you feel relaxed and luxurious?

What emotions did these bring up? What are a few more scents you can think of?

The waning moon phase is a time when our energy is winding down. You may find yourself taking naps and wanting more rest. This week, make some space in your schedule for rest! Maybe a luxurious mid-day nap, or even just some time without notifications or conversation. Stillness is good for the soul. 😴

What’s your favorite way to rest?

Mindful Mondays: Wave Breathing

If you’re like us, winter has you missing the warm, sunny rays and gently lapping waves of the beach. When winter stress builds up, try Wave Breathing to help soothe frazzled nerves. Feel free to picture yourself lying on a beach if it relaxes you!

As with all breath-work, stop immediately and return to normal breath if you become dizzy or don’t feel well. We do not recommend this breath-work while driving.

Sit or lie down comfortably. Your inhales and exhales will be the same length, without any break between. Inhale for 7 seconds, exhale for 7 seconds... immediately repeat 10 times without breaks (or until you feel more relaxed).

Spend some time in normal, relaxed breath when finished.
