Studio Phoenix was founded in 2013. We began in a small one-room studio in Des Plaines, which we quickly outgrew! We moved into our current 3-classroom studio in Arlington Heights in 2015. Our mission is to make dance and fitness fun for all women! Our warm, friendly environment welcomes women of all ages, shapes and sizes.
Jenni O'Connor - Owner and CEO
Jenni is an Insightful Intuitive who holds space for women to dismantle their emotional armor; to give themselves permission to discover and empower their true selves to live a life of freedom. She owns and instructs at Studio Phoenix. She is an author, speaker, and featured podcast guest. She has been featured in Costco magazine and Voyage Chicago. You can find her book, Rituals for Feminine Power, at Studio Phoenix or on Amazon.com.
Jenni began pole dancing in January 2010, when a friend convinced her to try an intro class. After one class, she was hooked! At the time, Jenni was in the process of applying for Disability for the debilitating condition Fibromyalgia, which leaves her in constant pain and fatigue. Through pole dancing, Jenni's Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have significantly improved.
Jenni has performed in many showcases, and loves to bring smiles to people's faces through her dancing. She has also competed in several competitions throughout the Midwest:
- 2019 PSO Central Pole Championships, Level 3 Entertainment, Masters Division - 2nd Place
- 2018 PSO Gateway, Level 3 Floorwork/Low Flow, Masters Division - 1st Place
- 2015 North American Pole Dance Championship's Floorwork Contest
- 2013 Motor City Pole Competition, Theatrics & Artistry Division
Jenni is known for her slow, fluid movement, and her strong pole poses. She loves instructing, and seeing a student light up when she gets a new trick. She is patient, creative, and encouraging, but also loves to make her students sweat! Not a natural athlete herself, she has compassion for those who have to work harder for their accomplishments. Her warm love for her students has earned her the nickname, "Mama Bear."
Married since 2002, Jenni and her husband have two daughters, and two Goldendoodles with severe tennis ball addictions. She was a professional photographer for 15 years, and coached Junior High cheerleading.
Jenni owns Studio Phoenix, and is a Senior Instructor. She teaches Pole Fitness, Teasers, Private Parties, Chair Dance, Liquid Motion®, and Aerial Yoga. She created the studio's Pole Fitness and Zen Restorative Aerial Yoga curriculums, and co-created the curriculum for At the Barre, Bottoms Up, Chair Dance, Aerial Yoga, Pole Flow, Low Flow, Creating Choreo, and our Liquid Motion® classes. Jenni is proud to be one of the few Illinois licensed and certified Liquid Motion® instructors! She is also a certified advanced pole instructor, a Master Trainer through Pole Moves, a certified spin pole instructor, and a certified aerial yoga instructor.
